March was in like a lion and out like a lamb for the Chicago Blackhawks, who started the month on an eight-game win streak and finished by going 2-3 in their final five contests. But by the end of the first week of April, the Hawks were back on top with a league-leading 58 points and 11 games left in the season.

four-game roadtrip

After suffering their first two regulation losses of the season against Colorado and Edmonton on March 8 and 10, the Blackhawks embarked on a four-game roadtrip that took them to every time zone in the continental U.S. Jonathan Toews and co. looked ready to put that two-game slide in the rear-view mirror, defeating their first three opponents by a combined score of 15-4, but couldn't hold off the Ducks and fell 4-2.

Hossa celebrates 1000th game; team's point streak snapped at Colorado

After celebrating Marian Hossa's 1,000th NHL game with a ceremony at the United Center, the Blackhawks notched wins against Minnesota and Colorado, followed by losses to Colorado and Edmonton. The loss to Colorado on March 8 capped the team's win streak at 11 games and point streak at 24 — a franchise record and NHL record respectively.

homestand plus streak

The Chicago Blackhawks wrapped up their seven-game homestand in style, beating the Columbus Blue Jackets and Edmonton Oilers in back-to-back one-goal games. A shut-out against the St. Louis Blues and overtime victory against the Blue Jackets later that week extended the Hawks' point streak to 21 games and win streak to eight.

The Chicago Blackhawks set a new NHL record for longest season-opening streak without a loss in regulation with a 2-1 win against the San Jose Sharks at the United Center on Feb. 22, 2013. The Hawks have now tallied a point in 17 consecutive games.

After getting off to a rocky start with shootout losses against the Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks, the Chicago Blackhawks ended their six-game roadtrip by notching wins in Calgary, San Jose, Phoenix and Nashville. The Hawks return to the United Center with a league-leading 22 points for a seven-game homestand, starting with the Anaheim Ducks on Feb. 12, 2013.

The Blackhawks topped the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in overtime at the United Center on January 27, 2013, extending their winning streak to six games and breaking the franchise record for best start to a season. The last time the Hawks started the season this strongly was 1971-92, when they won their first five games.

Dave Bolland, Tony Esposito, Patrick Sharp and Jamal Mayers led the crowd in singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch at Blackhawks Night with the Cubs over Labor Day weekend. Sharp threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
