The Friday Five: Six Degrees of Eddie O

On Monday, Oct. 15, Blackhawks Television Color Analyst Eddie Olczyk will be officially inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in Dallas, Texas. Olczyk will be the 17th Blackhawk in franchise history to be honored with that distinction, and he spent time on the same side of the ice with five of the other 16 inductees (none of the remaining 11 laced up their skates for the Blackhawks past 1950)! The well-connected Illinois native's teammates are outlined in today's edition of The Friday Five: The Six Degrees of Eddie O.

1. Phil Housley—USHHOF Class of 2004

Eddie spent parts of three seasons in Winnipeg from 1990-93 with Housley. The two made two international appearances together during the 1984 and 1987 Canada Cups.

2. Tony Amonte—USHHOF Class of 2009

Eddie skated alongside fellow inductee Amonte in Chicago during the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons.

3. Jeremy Roenick—USHHOF Class of 2010

Despite never crossing paths while wearing the same sweater in Chicago, Eddie and J.R. shared Team USA jerseys at the 1991 Canada Cup.

4. Chris Chelios—USHHOF Class of 2011

The two Chicago natives played together for the Blackhawks during the 1998-99 campaign. Both also represented Team USA together on several occasions: in the 1984 Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo and in three Canada Cup tournaments (1991, 1987 and 1984).

5. Gary Suter—USHHOF Class of 2011

Suter and Olczyk just missed playing together in Chicago in the late '90s, but were united in Team USA colors for the 1991 and 1987 Canada Cups.
