1st Star: D Travis Brown, Moose Jaw (WHL)
The Line:
5GP, 1G, 3A

Apparently unbothered by the sheer grind of playing five games in a week, Brown recorded a point in four straight games, including his eighth goal of the season on Tuesday against Lethbridge. Brown continues to lead Moose Jaw with 20 assists and 28 points, third-most among WHL defensemen.

2nd Star: RW Jeremy Morin, Rockford (AHL)
The Line: 2GP, 2G, 1A, +2 plus/minus

After a six-game stint with Chicago, Morin put up points in each of his first two contests back with Rockford. He logged a goal and an assist on Friday in a 5-3 loss at Grand Rapids, then tallied a goal in a 4-2 win over San Antonio the following night. Despite playing just 10 games so far this season, Morin is tied for the team lead with six goals and shares fourth with 11 points.

3rd Star: C Kevin Hayes, Boston College (H-EAST)
The Line: 2GP, 1G, 1A

Hayes’ strong senior year continued last weekend, as the 2010 first-round draft pick notched points in each of BC’s outings against UMass last weekend. Hayes tallied the game-winner in a close 2-1 game on Friday, then added an assist in a 2-2 tie the next night.

Honorable mentions: D Klas Dahlbeck, Rockford (AHL); C Alex Broadhurst, Rockford (AHL)

Dahlbeck continued showing impressive growth on offense, assisting on Morin’s goal on Saturday before adding an empty-netter to improve his yield to five goals and six helpers so far this season.

Broadhurst found instant chemistry with linemate Morin last week; Alex also tallied a goal and assist in the loss on Friday. Broadhurst now ranks second on the IceHogs and shares sixth among AHL rookies with 13 points (5G, 8A) in 18 games.

Around the system:

  • Teuvo Teravainen collected a pair of helpers in three games last week after the Finnish league resumed play, including an assist on the game-winning goal on Thursday as Jokerit defeated Saipa 2-1.

  • Brandon Whitney made two starts last week for Victoriaville in the QMJHL. The 2012 seventh-round pick made 28 saves on 30 shots and added a rare goalie assist in a 4-2 win over Saint John on Thursday; he saved 41 of 43 shots the next night against Blainville-Boisbriand, but lost 3-2 in a shootout.

  • Freshman center Anthony Louis tallied the opening goal and eventual game-winner for Miami (Ohio) in a 2-0 win over Wisconsin on Friday; the goal marked his fourth of the season... Minnesota defenseman Justin Holl registered his third assist of the season in his only appearance of the weekend, a 3-0 win over Minnesota State on Saturday... Yale forward John Hayden recorded an assist on the game-winning goal in his only appearance of the week, as the defending champion Bulldogs defeated Sacred Heart 5-1 on Saturday.

  • Terry Broadhurst enjoyed a two-point night on Saturday, tallying his fifth of the season to open the scoring and adding a helper on the game-winning goal against San Antonio... Joakim Nordstrom tallied for Rockford on Friday, marking his first AHL goal this season... Goaltender Antti Raanta was victorious in his only start last week, making 35 saves on 37 shots on Saturday for his seventh win of the season. Raanta was called up by Chicago over the weekend and will likely make his NHL debut during the upcoming Circus Trip.
