On the ground in Ottawa: All-Star Weekend Day 2

4 p.m. ET, NHL All-Star Media Day: With no on-ice obligations on Friday, the 2012 All-Stars were in a different arena on Friday, sitting down with the gathered media for All-Star Media Day. Blackhawks representatives Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa were in the middle of it all, appearing on TSN, NHL Network and WGN Radio, as well as speaking with dozen of other outlets.

"It actually wasn't too bad," Kane remarked after the event. "I was probably only up there for an hour. You get the same questions for sure, but it's something that you do. It's cool appearing on TSN, NHL Network, XM Radio and media like that. It's a good way to get people excited about the game."

Players from around the league were asked questions on a range of topics, but Kane got one question more than any others.

"I'm doing the breakaway challenge tomorrow at the skills competition, so everyone was asking me what I was planning on doing," he said. "I'm trying to keep it a secret."

One of Chicago's most intrepid reporters was on the scene for media day: Blackhawks TV's Joey the Junior Reporter held court with Kane, New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, Philadelphia's Scott Hartnell and Vancouver's Henrik and Daniel Sedin. Among the hard-hitting questions were "Which one are you?" to the Sedin twins, and "How can I grow my hair to look like yours?" to the famously-coiffed Hartnell.

The All-Stars will take the ice in competition Saturday for the annual skills competition. Kane will take part in the breakaway challenge, the skills challenge relay and the elimination shootout. Meanwhile, Hossa will take participate in the accuracy and fastest skater competitions.

"I’ll try to do my best and hopefully I won’t pull anything," Hossa said.
