Blackhawks center Marcus Kruger will be back in the lineup, and defenseman Steve Montador could play tomorrow night when the team faces the Devils in New Jersey.
Coach Joel Quenneville said Kruger’s quickness and positioning was missed on Sunday night.
“He’s done a real nice job as far as playing that role in the power play and the penalty kill,” Quenneville said. “He’s been effective, too.”
Quenneville said center Jonathan Toews is progressing. The captain took the ice for the seventh consecutive day on Monday.
“I think he’s feeling better about where he’s going,” Quenneville said. “He adds a little bit more each and every day. He feels stronger and his attitude has been good. He's getting closer."
Carter Hutton was recalled from Rockford this morning and will travel as the backup goaltender. Ray Emery is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and will not travel.
The Blackhawks face off against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT on Comcast SportsNet Chicago. The game can be heard live on WGN Radio AM-720.
