ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith left the Twin Cities Monday night and returned to Chicago to be by the bedside of his wife Kelly-Rae, who gave birth to a baby boy Tuesday morning.

Keith was the lone missing member of the Blackhawks during the morning skate prior to a Game 4 match-up with the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday in a Western Conference Quarterfinal series (9:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, CBC, RDS2), but Hawks coach Joel Quenneville expected Keith back to St. Paul in time to play.

"It's a good day for the Keiths and we're happy for them," Quenneville said. "Sounds like everything went well. I'm happy he was there in time."

Quenneville said there was no question that Keith needed to be by his wife's side as they welcomed their first child into the world, but did admit he is pleased to have his top defenseman available for a critical Game 4.

"I'm encouraged he'll be here to play, so it's good news all the way around," he said.

Expect the Blackhawks to perhaps tweak their fourth line, perhaps inserting Daniel Carcillo in at left wing in place of Brandon Bollig. Quenneville wouldn't commit to the move but said, "He could play."

Corey Crawford will start in goal and will be backed up by Henrik Karlsson.
