In conjunction with the National Hockey League, the Chicago Blackhawks today announced their 2013-14 regular-season local and national television schedule. Nationally, the Blackhawks will appear exclusively on NBC (including NBC and NBC Sports Network) a league-high tying 12 times, the maximum allowed per the League’s national television agreement. Locally, 70 Blackhawks games will air on Comcast SportsNet Chicago and WGN-TV Channel 9, the organization’s official television partners.
Chicago’s ninth consecutive campaign on Comcast SportsNet features 50 contests, beginning with the second game of the season on Saturday, Oct.5 at 7 p.m. CT when the Tampa Bay Lightning visit the United Center. “Blackhawks Pregame Live” will air prior to the majority of games on Comcast SportsNet with “Blackhawks Postgame Live” immediately following each contest.
The Blackhawks sixth consecutive season on WGN-TV Channel 9 launches on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7p.m. CT when the team hosts the Buffalo Sabres at the United Center. Chicago makes 20 appearances on the station, which was also its home from 1961 to 1975. Pat Foley (play-by-play) and Eddie Olczyk (analyst) will provide the coverage on each Comcast SportsNet and WGN-TV broadcasts, all of which can be seen in high definition.
In addition to regular-season coverage, three Blackhawks games (Sept. 19 vs. PIT, Sept. 20 at WSH and Sept. 28 vs. WSH) will be televised on Comcast SportsNet during the 2013 preseason.
Every regular-season game in 2013-14 can also be heard on the radio home of the Blackhawks, WGN Radio AM-720, with John Wiedeman (play-by-play) and Troy Murray (analyst) calling the action. The station will also carry two preseason games live over the air (Sept. 19 and Sept. 20). All six preseason contests will be available on WGNRadio.com, as well as the WGN Radio mobile app.
