Blackhawks To Hold Veteran\'s Day Salute

The Chicago Blackhawks will help pay a debt of gratitude to those who have sacrificed for our liberty and for the security of our Nation with Veterans Day salutes on ice before tonight's face-off and during tonight's contest with the Los Angeles Kings.

Veterans from the 85th Division of the U.S. Army, formerly known as the Black Hawk Division, will take part in pre-game festivities on the ice with tonight's color guard. The founder of the Blackhawks franchise Major Frederic McLaughlin was the commander in the 333rd Machine Gun Battalion of the 85th Division in World War I and named his team after the fighting squadron.

During the second period, the Blackhawks will pay tribute to our veterans, as well as all of our men and women in the Armed Forces with a music and video montage. Close to 500 vets received a free ticket to tonight's game and will be seated in Sections 106-109, and Sections 209-213.

This Veterans Day will also mark the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, the Blackhawks salute and remember the millions of veterans who crossed oceans and defeated two of the most ruthless military forces the world has ever known.
