Kelly Joins TV Booth As Play-by-Play Announcer
Chicago, IL (August 2, 2006) - Comcast SportsNet has announced the hiring of veteran hockey announcer Dan Kelly as the new play-by-play announcer for all Chicago Blackhawks telecasts on Comcast SportsNet starting next season. The announcement was made by James J. Corno, Senior Vice President/General Manager for Comcast SportsNet Chicago. In addition to his call of the game, Kelly will also make regular appearances with new color analyst Eddie Olczyk on Comcast SportsNet's Blackhawks Pre-Game Live and Blackhawks Post Game Live.

"Dan's enthusiasm for the game of hockey and his outstanding call of the game made it an easy choice for us to bring him to our network," said Corno. "Dan has already established himself as one of the bright, young stars in NHL broadcasting circles and we're certain viewers will appreciate what he and Eddie will bring to our Blackhawk telecasts beginning this fall."

"The Blackhawks are excited to begin another season working with Comcast SportsNet and our new broadcast team for this season," added Jim De Maria, Executive Director of Communications, Broadcasting, & Community Outreach. "Dan Kelly is a true professional who brings a tremendous amount of experience and hockey knowledge to the broadcast booth. Together with Eddie Olczyk, they are going to make a young, dynamic broadcast team that our fans are going to enjoy."

"It's difficult to contain my excitement at the thought of calling the games for the Chicago Blackhawks," said Kelly. "Coming to a passionate sports town like Chicago and working with a true professional in Eddie Olczyk on a powerful network like Comcast SportsNet is truly a dream come true for me. I will work very hard to gain the trust and respect of every Blackhawk fan by providing the passion and enthusiasm they would expect for this exciting young team."

"I have always been a big fan of Dan's and have admired his work," said Olczyk. "He has a very exciting game call. I am looking forward to working alongside Dan and I think it will be a great opportunity for both of us. I think we will compliment each other very well."

In addition to his work on Comcast SportsNet, Kelly will continue his role as play-by-play announcer for HDNet's NHL coverage on nights when there is not a conflict with a Blackhawks telecast. Prior to his inaugural season with HDNet last year, Kelly, who began his hockey broadcasting career in 1997, was the television play-by-play announcer for the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets for four seasons on Fox Sports Net Ohio (2000-2004) and the radio play-by-play announcer for the St. Louis Blues for three seasons on KMOX Radio (1997-2000). During his tenure with FSN Ohio, Kelly also hosted live pre/post game shows for the network's Blue Jackets coverage and earned a Midwestern Regional Emmy award for outstanding live sports coverage.

Kelly, a graduate of University of Dayton in 1996, also spent two years with Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain (2004-2005) handling a variety of on-air duties including play-by-play announcing for college hockey and basketball telecasts, sideline reporting for college football games and hosting the network's Denver Broncos half-time shows.

Kelly's family is well established in the NHL broadcasting world as his father, the late Dan Kelly, Sr., was the legendary voice of the St. Louis Blues for 21 seasons and his brother, John Kelly, is the current voice of the Blues.

Comcast SportsNet will be releasing its 2006-07 Chicago Blackhawks pre-season and regular season schedule in the coming weeks.
