Bergevin Added To Coaching Staff
The Chicago Blackhawks announced today the addition of Marc Bergevin as an assistant coach on Joel Quenneville’s staff.

Bergevin, 43, is currently in his third season in the Blackhawks front office, having previous served on the scouting staff, which includes his most recent stint as the director of professional scouting. The Montreal native joins John Torchetti, Mike Haviland and goaltending coach Stephane Waite as the fourth member on Quenneville’s staff.

“Marc has a tremendous amount of experience as a player and as a scout and will bring a great deal of success to our coaching staff,” Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon said. “His hard work ethic and sense of humor will help our young players as they continue to develop. He has a wonderful relationship with Joel and we are very excited to add him to our great coaching staff.”

Originally drafted by the Blackhawks in the third round (60th overall) of the 1983 Entry Draft, Bergevin spent 20 seasons in the National Hockey League as a defenseman, collecting 181 points (36 goals, 145 assists) in 1,191 games with Chicago (1984-89), the New York Islanders (1989-09), Hartford Whalers (1990-92), Tampa Bay Lightning (1992-95; 2002-03), Detroit Red Wings (1995-96), St. Louis Blues (1996-2001; 2001-02) and Pittsburgh Penguins (2000-01; 2002-03). During his six seasons in a St. Louis Blues uniform, Bergevin played under Quenneville.

Bergevin also skated in 80 career Stanley Cup Playoff contests with five different teams, recording nine points (three goals, six assists) and 52 penalty minutes.
