Fans Choice Awards: Kane\'s Hat Trick Voted Play Of The Year
chicagoblackhawks.com is proud to announce the winners of the inaugural Blackhawks Fans Choice Awards. At least one new winner will be announced each day this week. Thanks to everyone who voted!

If the best players step up at the most important times, Patrick Kane’s performance in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals was Exhibit A as to why he is considered one of the league’s top up-and-coming stars.

Though the Canucks and Hawks began the final period tied 3-3, Chicago found itself down 5-4 with just seven minutes left in regulation and about to head back to Vancouver for Game 7. But Kane led the Blackhawks' charge as they scored three unanswered goals, including two from the 20-year-old sophomore. Kane’s third goal of the night, a backhanded shot that put the Hawks up 7-5, set off the capacity United Center crowd, as they witnessed the Hawks’ first Semifinal series victory since 1995.

"It's about time I got my first hat trick,” Kane said. “I've been waiting two years. I guess it can't come in a better game than this.”

Agreed.
