Khabibulin Injured; Hawks Recall Crawford
The Blackhawks have recalled goaltender Corey Crawford from the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL after Nikolai Khabibulin injured his knee on Friday night in a game at Minnesota.
Khabibulin had an MRI on Saturday and is expected to be sidelined approximately 4 to 6 weeks with a sprained knee.
Crawford has appeared in 25 games for the Norfolk Admirals this season posting a record of 12-12-1 with a 2.80 goals against average and a .896 save percentage. Crawford was in goal last night as Norfolk defeated Binghamton 6-2.
Crawford was the Blackhawks' 2nd round pick (52nd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft out of Moncton in the Quebec Major Junior League. In the 2003-04 QMJHL playoffs, Crawford was outstanding in goal as Moncton eliminated Rimouski and Sidney Crosby.
This is Crawford's first year as a pro and he has never played a game in the National Hockey League.
