C Evan Brophey, Plymouth (OHL): Brophey had one assist in Plymouth's 7-3 loss to Sarnia Friday night to open the Ontario Hockey League season ... On Saturday night, Brophey registered five assists and a +3 rating for Plymouth during its 7-6 win over Erie. Brophey was named the 1st star of the game. He is an alternate captain for Plymouth this season.
C Adam Hobson, Spokane (WHL): Hobson scored two goals in Spokane's 8-4 win over Kootenay Saturday night to open the Western Hockey League season.
European
C Petri Kontiola, Tappara (FIN): Kontiola went scoreless in Tappara's 2-1 win over Lukko Saturday. He centered Tappara's top line. Kontiola has two goals and three assists in Tappara's first five games.
RW Igor Makarov, SKA St. Petersberg (RUS): Makarov went scoreless in SKA's 4-3 overtime loss to Cherepovets Saturday. Makarov has three goals in seven games this season with SKA.
