NORFOLK - Troy Brouwer's deflection goal with five minutes remaining sent a deadlocked game in Norfolk's favor, as the Admirals defeated Bridgeport 3-1 on Wednesday night for their seventh straight victory.

For the first time this season, the Admirals allowed the game's opening goal. Sergei Ogorodnikov gave Bridgeport a 1-0 lead with a shot from the right faceoff dot that went past Corey Crawford's glove at 10:10 of the first period. The Admirals out-shot the Sound Tigers 12-4 but trailed by one goal heading into the second period.

It appeared as if Crawford and Bridgeport netminder Billy Thompson would shut down scoring in the middle frame, as Crawford stopped nine shots and Thompson turned aside ten. However, Norfolk capitalized on a late power play to knot the score at 1-1. Martin St. Pierre fired a cross-ice pass to Brandon Bochenski at the bottom of the left circle. Bochenski one-timed the puck past Thompson stick-side for his sixth power play goal of the season with 57 seconds remaining in the period.

Brouwer's goal came with 5:03 left in regulation. Jordan Hendry sent a slap shot from the left point toward the net. Brouwer deflected the shot through Thompson's legs and just over the goal line. Crawford, who was named the Rbk/X-Pulse AHL Goaltender of the Month for October earlier in the day, made ten saves in the third period to make Brouwer's goal stand as the game-winner. Chris Durno iced the game for Norfolk with an empty-netter in the game's final minute.

The Admirals look to tie their franchise mark for most consecutive victories on the road in Portland on Friday night. Although the team is away from the area, fans can still watch the game in Norfolk. The Admirals and Baxter's Sports Lounge will present the second installment of Admirals B2 Nights at Baxter's on Friday at 7:05 p.m. Fans will be able to watch live game video and hear Pete Michaud's call of the game on a big screen TV at Baxter's with Admirals' friends and family. For more details, visit norfolkadmirals.com and click the B2 Night at Baxter's banner in the middle of the front page. The AHL Admirals' current franchise record for most consecutive wins is eight between March 15, 2002 at Cleveland to March 29, 2002 versus Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Crawford picked up his fifth straight victory with 22 saves on 23 shots. Billy Thompson was strong in net for the Sound Tigers, stopping 28 of 30 Admirals shots in the Bridgeport loss.

Norfolk was 1-7 on the power play. The Admirals continued to shut down the opposition power play as they have now killed 26 consecutive penalties over a four-game span. The Sound Tigers were 0-4 on the power play.
