Where Will The Draft Picks Play?
Like any smart, confident player, Beach's plan is to come to Blackhawks training camp in the best shape of his life and make the team. Like any smart, confident GM who got his guy in the 1st round, Dale Tallon looks forward to having to make that decision. Of course, most 1st rounders spend at least another year as an amateur before making the leap to the NHL, and Beach could very well return to Everett. (Due to his age, the American Hockey League is not an option.) |
His skating is off the charts, but at 176 pounds, Tallon's 3rd round steal needs to add size and strength, while improve in his own end. |
D Teigan Zahn Character kid will likely serve in a leadership role for the Blades this season. |
RW Ben Smith 20 year-old will return for his junior year at BC, where he racked up 25 goals and 25 assists last season and played on the National Champion's top line. |
Played in the Elite League as an 18 year-old and impressed at last year's U-18 World Juniors. According to Tallon, Carlsson is comparable to promising Hawk prospect (and fellow Swede) Niklas Hjalmarsson -- except maybe even better with the puck. Should be at Prospects Camp in Chicago in July, along with Beach, Lalonde and most, if not all, the '08 picks. |
D Braden Birch Impressed Blackhawks assistant GM Rick Dudley with his size (6-3) and mobility. |
D Joe Gleason Speedy defenseman is slated to attend hockey powerhouse ND, but may spend a year in the USHL before matriculating. |
