Hawks Insider: Who Will Get A's?

With the captaincy now determined, who will wear the A's? Will it again be a rotating list? Or will it be set this year? -- Peter Kloiber, Washington, D.C.
My guess is a combination of both, Peter. The A's won't rotate month-to-month as they did for much of last season, but there will likely be four set alternate/assistant captains who will rotate between home and road games. Brent Seabrook, Patrick Sharp and Brent Sopel all were part of this platoon system at the tail end of last year and will all surely be in the running for an 'A' again this season. Of course, blue line anchors Brian Campbell and Duncan Keith, plus veteran Robert Lang, should also get consideration.
Just a quick question on Antti Niemi... since he wasn't drafted and signed only a one-year deal, where do the Blackhawks stand with him for next summer? Will he be considered a UFA or an RFA? Just wondering, because if he has a monster year he'll probably draw quite a bit of attention. -- Michael Greenberg, Ottawa, ON
Michael, Niemi will be a restricted free agent when his contract expires after this year. He isn't old enough to be considered unrestricted.
Mike Radja was an impressive scorer at Prospects Camp. Are the Blackhawks signing him or not? -- Darcy Herman, Thunder Bay, ON
Radja, who played the past four years at the University of New Hampshire, did have an impressive Prospects Camp, earning him an American Hockey League contract this season with Rockford. Fellow Prospects Camp free agent attendee Peter MacArthur -- a center out of Boston University -- also earned an AHL deal.
