The Eau Claire, Wisconsin native leads Rockford with six assists and ranks second with seven points in eight AHL contests this season, while serving as the team captain. He also appeared in five preseason contests with the Blackhawks, posting one assist.

Overall, Dowell has appeared in 22 regular-season games with the Blackhawks over the last three seasons (2007-09), posting three points (2G, A) and 17 penalty minutes, which includes being held scoreless in one game with the club in 2008-09.
