Some memorable dates this week in Blackhawks history:
  • On November 30, 2007, defenseman Dustin Byfuglien tied two team records with his first NHL hat trick in a 6-1 rout of Phoenix at the United Center. He also picked up an assist for his first four-point game. His three goals tied the mark held by Doug Wilson and Dick Redmond plus two came on the power play, also tying him with several other Hawks blueliners. In the same game, Jonathan Toews registered his first three-point NHL game (1 g-2a).
  • Defenseman Brent Seabrook set a personal high of 22 penalty minutes which included two 5-minute majors in a 4-3 overtime victory at Nashville on December 2, 2006.
  • Also on the same date in 1950 at Toronto, Hawks goalie Harry Lumley and Leafs netminder Al Rollins battled to a scoreless tie. Two years later, Rollins became the Chicago goalie and went on in the 1953-54 season to become the only player to win the NHL's MVP Hart Trophy while playing for a last place team. Rollins had five shutouts as the Hawks won only 12 games in the 70-game schedule.
  • Hall of Famer and all-time Chicago points leader Stan Mikita registered back-to-back hat tricks on the road in 1965. In Boston on December 4, Mikita tallied his 4th career three-goal game in a 10-1 slaughter of the Bruins. He turned the trick the next night against the Rangers in a 6-2 win.
  • Also on the 4th, Joe Cooper scored the second penalty shot in Chicago history in 1941 as the Hawks walloped Montreal 9-2 at the Stadium... in 1999 Michael Nylander scored his only four- goal game in a Hawks uniform in a 9-3 triumph in Boston.
  • Mikita picked up the first of his two four-goal games on December 6, 1967 at Pittsburgh as the Hawks cruised past the Penguins 7-2.
  • The Blackhawks began the first of a team record nine-straight victories on December 7 last year against Phoenix at the United Center in a 7-1 decision. In the same game, Andrew Ladd set a personal high with four points (1g-3a). Toews won 11 of 13 faceoffs (85%) against the Coyotes. Also on the same date last year, Toews was named the #2 NHL star of the week after three straight multi-point games.
  • Pearl Harbor Day was also a great date to tie team records. Fan favorite Jeremy Roenick was the difference as he got his first of two four-goal games in beating the Islanders 5-2 in New York in 1991. Jeremy got three of them on the power play to match the Chicago mark, which was duplicated 10 years later on the same date by Eric Daze against the Islanders, but at the UC in a 4-3 win.
