Some memorable dates this week in Blackhawks history:
  • In January 19, 1971, the Blackhawks had 11 players on the Western All-Star team that edged the Eastern All-Stars 2-1 at Minnesota.
  • On the same date in 1991, the Hawks hosted the All-Star game at Chicago Stadium just at the start of the Persian Gulf War. The game began with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem, during which the crowd cheered all the way through.

  • Also on the 19th in 1972, goalie Tony Esposito began a string of three straight home shutouts, tying a team mark in a season that saw Tony "O" wind up with nine whitewashes, plus a great goals against average of only 1.77.

  • Patrick Kane connected on the winning shootout goal on January 19, 2008 to give the Hawks a 2-1 win over Phoenix. Defenseman Brent Sopel blocked a season high five shots in the same match against the Coyotes.

  • Adam Burish scored his first NHL career goal on January 22, 2008 at San Jose.

  • Kris Versteeg was named to the NHL YoungStars team on January 24 last year in Montreal.

  • The Blackhawks played their first game at the new United Center on January 25, 1995. Forward Joe Murphy scored the first goal in the 5-1 victory over Edmonton.

  • Also on the 25th last year, Patrick Kane played in his first ever NHL All-Star Game and tallied a goal and assist in the event in Montreal.

  • Steve Sullivan set a Hawks record for the fastest two shorthanded goals when he scored 51 seconds apart in Colorado on January 26, 2001.
