The Chicago Blackhawks have signed right wing and seven-year National Hockey League veteran Fernando Pisani to a one-year contract.

Pisani, 33, tallied four goals, four assists, and 10 penalty minutes in 40 regular-season games with the Edmonton Oilers during the 2009-10 campaign. The Edmonton, Alberta, native has spent his entire seven-year NHL career with the Oilers and was a finalist for the 2008 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey.

Originally selected by the Oilers in the eighth round (195th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Pisani has registered 153 points (80G, 73A) and 190 penalty minutes in 402 career regular-season games. He has added 19 points (15G, 4A) in 30 postseason tilts, which includes leading the Oilers with 14 goals and five game-winning goals, and ranking third with 18 points during the club’s run to the 2006 Stanley Cup Final. Pisani also posted 117 points (55G, 62A) in 172 regular-season contests with the American Hockey League’s Hamilton Bulldogs from 2000 through 2003.
