Rockford Rewind: Oct. 25-31

Wednesday, Oct. 27: Texas Stars 4 vs. Rockford IceHogs 3 (SO):
-Rockford rallied three times but were knocked off in the ninth round of the shootout by the Stars.
-The nine round shootout marks the second longest shootout in Rockford’s AHL era.
-IceHogs goal scorers include Brandon Pirri (2), Jeff Taffe (3) and Kyle Beach (2).
-The IceHogs are 0-5-1-1 all-time against Texas at the MetroCentre.

Saturday, Oct. 30: Rockford IceHogs 2 at Chicago Wolves 3:
-The IceHogs jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead, but the Wolves scored three unanswered goals to claim the victory.
-Nick Leddy scored his first career AHL goal and registered his first career professional multi-point game.
-Brandon Pirri (3) also added a goal for the second straight game.

Bacon Bits:
-Brian Connelly has an assist in three-straight games dating back to Oct. 23, chipping in five helpers in that time span.
-Connelly leads all Rockford skaters with nine points, second in the AHL for d-men, and all nine points are assists, tied for most among AHL blueliners.
-Rockford has outshot their opponent in three of their first nine games.
-The IceHogs will play just four home games in November while playing eight games the road.
-Since beginning the season 33.3-percent (8-12) on the penalty kill after their first three games, Rockford has stopped 89.7-percent (3-29) of their opponent’s power plays.
-Kyle Hagel is tied for the AHL lead with five major penalties.
-Three of Rockford’s last five games have gone to overtime.
-Rockford’s 3.56 goals against average is tied for 27th in the AHL.
-With the recalls of Ben Smith and Ryan Potulny last week, Rockford has had five players recalled to Chicago in 2010-11.
-Chicago recalled a total of five different players from Rockford during the entire 2009-10 season.

Prospect Highlight:
Defenseman Brian Connelly
The second-year defenseman is tied for second among all AHL defensemen with nine points, all assists, heading into Week 5. The Bloomington, Minn. native has helpers in three straight games (5a) and has marked an assist in seven of Rockford’s nine games so far in 2010-11.
