Chicago Blackhawks radio play-by-play broadcaster John Wiedeman and color analyst Troy Murray received top honors in the “Sports Play-By-Play” category at the 2011 Illinois Broadcasters Association (IBA) Silver Dome Awards, held June 15.
In addition to honoring the work of Wiedeman and Murray, the IBA recognized Blackhawks radio flagship WGN Radio with first place honors in seven categories, the most of any station, including Station Of The Year and best station website.
“These are well deserved honors for both John and Troy as well as our great partners at WGN Radio,” said Executive Vice-President Jay Blunk. “We’re fortunate to have them painting a vivid picture of Blackhawks hockey all season. Throughout the Midwest, and around the world on wgnradio.com, our fans can feel like they’re in the United Center thanks to our talented broadcasters.”
WGN Radio has been the flagship station for the Blackhawks since the start of the 2008-09 campaign. The partnership united two historic Chicago institutions that have been part of the city’s fabric for over 80 years.
