Blackhawks assign Saad to OHL's Saginaw
The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned forward Brandon Saad (SAHD) to the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League.
Saad, 18, made his National Hockey League debut on Friday night in Dallas and registered three shots on goal in two games against the Stars over the weekend. Selected by Chicago in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2011 National Hockey League Entry Draft in June, Saad tied for second on Saginaw with 27 goals and totaled 55 points (27G, 28A) in 59 regular-season tilts last year in his OHL debut. During the postseason he finished third on the club with 12 points (3G, 9A) in 12 contests.
A native of Gibsonia, Pa., Saad competed for the United States National Team Development Program U-18 team in 2009-10, leading the club with 58 points (29G, 29A) in 63 games, and winning a gold medal at the 2010 U-18 World Championships.
Chicago hosts the Winnipeg Jets at the United Center on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast locally on Comcast SportsNet Chicago and can be heard on WGN Radio AM-720.
