Chicago Blackhawks Charities and The McCormick Foundation announce 2011-12 grant recipients
Chicago Blackhawks Charities (CBC) and the Robert R. McCormick Foundation announced the community organizations selected to receive grants during the 2011-12 season. Through The Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund, $654,000 was awarded to local nonprofit organizations with programs addressing child and youth education, health and wellness and housing for those in need. In total, more than $1 million will be awarded to 22 grant recipients, all of which will be acknowledged at United Center on Tuesday, Nov. 29, when the Blackhawks host the Phoenix Coyotes.
The 13 community organizations receiving grants through the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund are: Adaptive Adventures, BUILD, Inc.; Chicago Public Libraries; Children’s Home and Aid; Common Threads; Girls in the Game; Maywood Fine Arts; Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago; Rush University Medical Center; Snow City Arts Foundation; Teen Living Programs; USO of Illinois; and Women’s Treatment Center. The Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund is supported through a major grant from Chicago Blackhawk Charities and matching funds provided by the McCormick Foundation.
Receiving grants through Chicago Blackhawks Charities are the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois; the American Indian Center Chicago Jesuit Academy; Christ the King Jesuit College Preparatory School; Dreams For Kids; Hope Institute Learning Academy; Neighbors’ Development Network; Nettelhorst Community Group; and SOS Children’s Village.
In 2009, Chicago Blackhawks Charities and the Robert R. McCormick Foundation partnered to create the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund. Through this unique partnership, the McCormick Foundation matches all donations at fifty cents on the dollar to the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund.
