The Rockford Rewind: Pirri piles up multi-point games in Week 11

Wed., Dec. 14: Rockford 4 at Grand Rapids 5 (SO)
> Defenseman Joe Lavin scored his first pro goal and added two assists.
> Andrew  Shaw had two goals for the second time in four games.
> Rockford finished their four-game season series with Grand Rapids 3-0-0-1.

Fri., Dec. 16: Peoria 5 vs. Rockford 2
> Rockford fell to Peoria despite registering 44 shots on goal.
> Brandon Pirri and Brian Connelly tallied goals for Rockford.
> Alec Richards made 26 saves in the loss.

Sat., Dec. 17: Milwaukee 2 vs. Rockford 4
> Brandon Pirri accumulated his third-straight multi-point game with two goals and an assist.
> Peter LeBlanc and Brandon Bollig also tallied for the IceHogs.
> Carter Hutton made 28 saves to earn the win.

Connelly

> Rockford has snagged points in five of their last six games (3-1-0-2) dating back to 12/9/11.
> Center Brandon Pirri is riding his third five-game point streak of the season, accumulating 3G, 5A during his hot stretch. Pirri recorded multi-point games in all three IceHogs tilts in Week 11, and now leads Rockford with 11 multi-point contests, six more than the next closest skater.
> Defenseman Brian Connelly had a pair of assists on Saturday for his fifth multi-point game of the season and is second among AHL d-men with 25 points. Connelly’s 22 assists are also second-most in the AHL.
> After going 2-36 (5.6%) on the power play over a seven-game stretch, Rockford snapped out of the slump by going 4-7 over their past two games.
> After Wednesday’s home game against Toronto, Rockford will play nine of their next 10 games on the road.
> Rostislav Olesz notched his fifth multi-point game of the season on Saturday, marking two assists.
> Winger Greg Rallo became the 43rd former IceHogs skater to play in the NHL when he appeared in Sunday’s game with the Florida Panthers.
> Carter Hutton has won his last three home starts for the IceHogs. In five home appearances, Hutton is 3-1-0-0 with a 2.06 goals against average and a .936 save percentage.
> Second-year center Brandon Bollig has G, 4A through 25 games played this season after registering four goals in 55 games in 2010-11.
> After accumulating 44 shots on goal both Friday and Saturday, Rockford has now had six games (2-3-1-0) this season where they’ve totaled 40 or more shots in a game.

Pirri

Hot Hog:
Second-year center Brandon Pirri chipped in multi-point games in all three contests for the IceHogs during Week 11. Pirri began the week by dishing out two assists and recording a season-high plus/minus rating of +3 in Rockford’s 5-4 shootout loss in Grand Rapids.  On Friday, the centerman had a goal and an assist against Peoria before registering two goals and an assist while getting named the #1 Star of the Game in Rockford’s 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Admirals. Pirri now leads Rockford with 13 goals and 31 points on the season. His +6 is also tops on the team.
