Sharp injured in Hawks\' loss to Detroit
Sharp scored his 20th goal in the overtime loss to Detroit, but left the game and didn\'t return with an upper-body injury.

CHICAGO – It might've been more than just a bitter loss to the rival Detroit Red Wings on Sunday night for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Depending on a reassessment of an injury on Monday to star forward Patrick Sharp, it could also mean the Hawks will have to scrap it out in a tight Western Conference race without one of their top scorers.

Sharp scored his 20th goal just 4:19 into Sunday night's 3-2 overtime loss to Detroit at the United Center, but left the game not long afterward and didn't return with what's being called officially an upper-body injury.

Sharp has 20 goals and 20 assists in 42 games this season and has bounced between the first and second lines while playing with the likes of Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa and Jonathan Toews. If he's out for an extended period, it will be a significant hurdle for the Hawks to clear in a season that, until recently, hadn't had many injury concerns.

Chicago is also currently playing without rookie second-line center Marcus Kruger, who's recovering from what's believed to be a concussion.
