Blackhawks agree to terms with 2013 Hobey Baker Winner LeBlanc
LeBlanc, 23, registered 50 points (13G, 37A) in 42 games this season with St. Cloud State of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, helping lead the Huskies to their first Frozen Four appearance in program history. He was named a West First Team All-American after leading the nation in assists and tying for seventh in overall scoring. LeBlanc set career highs in points, goals and assists, and tied his career-best in game-winning goals with three.
The 6-0, 195-pound forward tallied 147 points (42G, 105A) in 171 career games at St. Cloud State. He was named to the 2013 All-WCHA First Team and, for the first time in the 52-year history of the WCHA, was named Outstanding Student-Athlete of the Year and Player of the Year. LeBlanc, a two-year team captain for the Huskies, was a four-time Academic All-WCHA nominee and was named the 2012 WCHA Scholar Athlete recipient.
Prior to his collegiate career, the Hermantown, Minn., native tallied 59 points (19G, 50A) in 78 career games with the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League from 2006 to 2008. LeBlanc will report to the Blackhawks and wear number 14.
