Blackhawks reduce training camp roster to 47 players
The Chicago Blackhawks announced today they have assigned forward David Gilbert to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. In addition, the team has assigned defensemen Dillon Fournier (Rouyn-Noranda\/QMJHL) and Travis Brown (Moose Jaw\/WHL) and goaltender Brandon Whitney (Victoriaville\/QMJHL) to their respective junior teams.

In addition, the team has assigned defensemen Dillon Fournier (Rouyn-Noranda/QMJHL) and Travis Brown (Moose Jaw/WHL) and goaltender Brandon Whitney (Victoriaville/QMJHL) to their respective junior teams.

The Blackhawks have also released forwards Wade Brookbank and Pat Mullane and defensemen Joe Gleason, Jared Nightingale and Bobby Shea from training camp.

The team’s active roster now includes 28 forwards, 14 defensemen and five goaltenders.

The Blackhawks open the 2013 preseason tonight (Sept. 17) against the Detroit Red Wings at the United Center (7 p.m.). The game can be heard on WGNRadio.com or on the WGN Radio mobile app.
