Chicago advanced to the second round by defeating the St. Louis Blues in six games to open the postseason. Minnesota topped Central Division champion Colorado in seven games to advance.

The Blackhawks finished the 2013-14 regular season with a 46-21-15 record (107 points) and earned the third seed in the NHL’s Central Division. For the first time since 1992-97, Chicago has reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs for six consecutive seasons.

Chicago posted a 2-3-0 record against Minnesota during the regular season. The is the second all-time postseason meeting between the Blackhawks and Wild, with Chicago posting a four games to one series win in last year’s Conference Quarterfinal in the only other match-up between the clubs.
