MARK BERNARDGENERAL MANAGER OF MINOR LEAGUE AFFILIATIONS
Mark Bernard is in his fifth season with the Chicago Blackhawks as General Manager of Minor League Affiliations. Bernard oversees the day-to-day operations of Chicago’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
Bernard joined the Blackhawks from the Norfolk Admirals (AHL), where he served as Vice President and Assistant GM. He joined the Admirals in June 2006 as Assistant GM and was named Interim VP in October 2006 before his appointment to VP one month later. In 2008, the Ontario native won the James C. Hendy Memorial Award as the AHL’s most outstanding executive.
Bernard played parts of 13 pro seasons as a goaltender in the AHL, ECHL, Central Hockey League and Colonial Hockey League. He helped the ECHL’s Hampton Roads Admirals capture consecutive Kelly Cups in 1991 and 1992, earning playoff MVP honors in 1992. After his playing career, he coached the United Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs in 2003-04 and the Elite Ice Hockey League’s Basingstoke Bison from 2004-06.
Bernard and his wife, Julie, have two children, Jackson and MacKenzie.
