3-On-3 Street Hockey Tournament - Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost for a team and what is included?
Each team costs $50, and can consist of up to 6 players. Participants MUST be 15 or under on the day of the event.  Each team member will receive free entry into the Street Festival an event t-shirt and free parking; and the opportunity to watch a live Blackhawks practice!  Winning team members will receive a Chicago Blackhawks prizes! In addition, free hockey clinics will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for kids sponsored by the Chicago Blackhawks and BMO Harris Bank.

How does my team register for the tournament?
You may go online to chicagoblackhawks.com to register.  Once you have submitted your completed form, the Team Manager will be contacted via email with confirmation. They will be expected to pay for the entire tournament fee by credit card or check. The Team Manager must be 18 years of age or older. Online registration is first come first serve. A completed registration form does not guarantee entry into the tournament.

How do player divisions break down?
Each team is guaranteed three games. Divisions will break down as follows: 7-9 year olds; 10-12 year olds; and 13-15 year olds.

Are rollerblades allowed?
No.  It is a sneaker only tournament (appropriate footwear, no flip-flops).

What if it is raining?
The tournament will be played unless there is threatening weather. There are no refunds for partially played games.

When will each team know their schedule for the tournament?
Teams will be notified a week prior to the festival, but games will run from 8am – 4pm.

How many players play at a time?
Each team may play 3 players.  Mini-nets will be in place instead of a goalie. No teams may have a goalie. A total of 6 people will be on the street surface while the ball is in play.

How many players can be on a team?
A maximum of 6 is allowed.

How long is a game?
Each game will consist of two 12-minute halves, with a running clock.  Play will not stop unless there is an injury.  If a ball goes out-of-bounds then the timekeeper will immediately throw a new “live” ball into play.  After a goal is scored, the ball will be pulled out of the net and play will resume with that team in immediate possession. 

What equipment is required?
All players must wear a helmet and full face mask, gloves, shin guards and a stick.

Can we purchase additional tickets for family members?
Teams may purchase additional tickets for $5/each. Each team receives 6 tickets as part of their registration fee.
