Eddie Olczyk Youth Hockey Award


Celebrate Hawkey Day in Cicero on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at the Bobby Hull Community Ice Rink! you can register for events such as a hockey game and a family or instructional skate, and part of the proceeds will benefit the Eddie Olczyk Award.



The 5th Annual Memorial Hockey Game and Silent Auction benefiting the Josh Strutz Hockey Is Life Fund will take place on Friday, Dec. 19, at West Meadows Ice Arena in Rolling Meadows, Ill. Click here for more information.


The Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Blackhawk Charities are excited to name an award after Eddie Olczyk to support young hockey players and teams in Illinois who may not have the means to play at a competitive level.

Since its inception in 2011, the Eddie Olczyk Award has distributed over $105,000 in grants, raised through Blackhawks Youth Hockey Summer Camps, to 46 individuals and two organizations.

As the head instructor at the Blackhawks Hockey Camps, Olczyk is dedicated to the development and growth of youth hockey in Illinois.

The Eddie Olczyk Award will grant:

  • individuals/families in need of assistance for participation in an Illinois sanctioned team or organization
  • sanctioned teams in need of assistance for tournament expenses
  • AHAI (Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois) organizations in need of assistance to run programs which increase the participation in and quality of youth hockey.
