Chicago Blackhawks Charities Fundraising
A majority of Chicago Blackhawks Charities fundraising comes from our fans during in-game activities. Last season our supporters helped us raise nearly $4 million, which will be distributed to our 2014-15 grant recipients and other programs in the community. In addition, Chicago Blackhawks Charities has partnered with several nonprofit organizations to support their fundraising efforts by donating a percentage of funds raised during Blackhawks home games.
Blackhawks fans have had the prime opportunity to build up their beard-growing skills the past few seasons. The Beard-a-Thon is a league-wide fundraiser for fans to show their playoff spirit by growing a beard and pledging money for charity throughout the playoffs. Whether a fan is “growing one for the team” or sponsoring someone else, fans can watch beards grow for a good cause. During the 2014 playoffs, fans raised $24,500 for Chicago Blackhawks Charities.
Birthdays & Group Welcomes
For a $100 donation, Blackhawks fans can welcome, congratulate or wish a friend Happy Birthday on the Blackhawks Scoreboard. The messages appear on the center video board during the first period or first intermission, and the fan will receive a photo of the message. All proceeds benefit Chicago Blackhawks Charities. Click here to submit the Scoreboard Announcement Form.
During select home games, the Blackhawks Better Halves, along with CBC, sell autographed mystery pucks. Fans can make a $30 donation to CBC to receive a puck autographed by one of the current Blackhawks players. In 2013-14, CBC made over $58,000 during holiday games, Hockey Fights Cancer Night, and other special occasions.
During each home game, Chicago Blackhawks Charities has a silent auction located at Section 104 and Section 333. Unique, player-autographed items are offered each game, from Frameworth Sports Marketing or in-house creations. All proceeds from the silent auction go directly to Chicago Blackhawks Charities to help serve the current grant recipients and local communities of the Chicagoland area. During the 2013-14 season, CBC raised $359,000 through the Silent Auction. To participate in the in-game auctions, text “Blackhawks” to 521-82 and follow the prompts to register.
Split the Pot Raffle
Chicago Blackhawks Charities puts on a Split the Pot raffle during each home game. One lucky fan walks home with 50% of the net proceeds from that night’s raffle ticket sales, and the other 50% of the proceeds benefit Chicago Blackhawks Charities. The Split the Pot raffle made over $860,000 this season, with the highest game raising $33,000 for Chicago Blackhawks Charities.
For a $500 donation to Chicago Blackhawks Charities, Blackhawks fans can ride the Zamboni at a Blackhawks home game. Each rider will also receive a photo as a memento of the experience. Zamboni rides are available during pre-game, and first and second intermissions. Subject to availability with at least a 48-hour notice. Riders must be at least 48” tall.
