Welcome to the newest addition to the Chicago Blackhawks' continuing efforts to grow the game of hockey in the Chicago area.

The Chicago Blackhawks Amateur Hockey Development Center is a resource for amateur players, youth coaches, league managers and parents who are looking for information that can help kids enjoy the game of hockey even more by improving their on-ice skills.

On this page are links to the web site for the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois, the governing body for youth hockey in Illinois. You'll also find a link for USA Hockey's skills and drills.

In addition, there is a link for information on the Blackhawk Cup, the top prize in Illinois High School Hockey.

Blackhawk Youth Hockey Programs

Chicago Blackhawk Youth Hockey Camps

Each summer, the Chicago Blackhawks offer compehensive, week-long day camps as well as weekly, evening skill classes in communities throughout Illinois. Camps are led by the official Blackhawks Youth Hockey Camp coaching staff. Week-long, day camps feature supplemental instruction from Chicago Blackhawks Heroes such as Troy Murray, Murray Bannerman and Steve Konroyd. Learn more>>

StreetHawks
The Chicago Blackhawks, in conjunction with the NHL, are proud sponsors of the StreetHawks hockey program. NHL-licensed street hockey equipment (sticks, balls, nets and goalie equipment) is donated to participating local schools and community centers. StreetHawks provides children ages 6 to 16 the opportunity to participate in sneaker hockey in a safe, supervised environment. Learn more>>

JuniorHawks

The Chicago Blackhawks give qualifying youth hockey teams the opportunity to play a 40-minute game on the United Center ice prior to every Blackhawks home game as part of the JuniorHawks program. The Blackhawks have played host to over 550 youth hockey teams since the program's inception. Learn more>>

RESPECT - Rewarding Excellent Sportsmanship, Playing with Enthusiasm, Cooperation, and Teamwork
To continue a tradition of sportsmanship on and off the ice, the Chicago Blackhawks are committed to educating youth hockey participants about good sportsmanship. Through the JuniorHawks program and Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI), the Chicago Blackhawks award one JuniorHawk team the Respect Award at the end of the season. Learn more>>

Blackhawk Rink Partners
Being one of the "Original Six" members of the NHL and having a rich tradition of hockey the Blackhawks have and will continue to deliver many great partnering opportunities. Its history and tradition has given the Blackhawks one of the most recognizable sport brands in the country. Promotional opportunities and co-branding with the Blackhawks have proven to assist many companies bottom lines and will make our partnership a winner. Holiday Hockey Classic

The Blackhawks host an annual Blackhawk Charities high-school hockey tournament during the Christmas Break. The 20-team tournament features educational seminars, player appearances, silent auctions and tremendous high-school hockey action. It's an electrifying event which showcases the finest hockey teams from Illinois and surrounding states. If your team is interested in participating, please have your coach call 312-455-7000.

Special Hockey International
With the support of Blackhawk Charities and the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois, another team has been formed to excite hockey fans. Special Hockey International is a program dedicated to providing children and adults with developmental challenges the opportunity to play hockey. The Special Hockey Team, called the TomaHawks, is comprised of players who have disabilities that challenge their development. For more information, please call 630-428-1233.

AHAI Diversity Task Force Program
Chicago Blackhawk Charities provides a grant to the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI). A portion of the grant is used to support the AHAI Diversity Task Force which provides equipment, ice time and instruction complimentary to underprivileged youth from the Chicagoland area. The AHAI Diversity Task Force currently plays at The Edge in Bensenville and will be expanding in September 2004 to include Garfield Park, Reis Park and Warren Park. RIC Sled Hockey
With grants made by Chicago Blackhawk Charities, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago offers sled hockey through its Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Sports Program. The activity is offered weekly for two hours for individuals not able to use their lower extremities but still able to compete. RIC has developed competitive youth and adults teams. NHL Street Fit
NHL Street Fit is a healthy lifestyle curriculum distributed to Street program center administrators and their players. The curriculum enables youth to learn about and engage in healthy living practices by making healthful choices (proper diet, fitness, exercise, etc.). The healthy lifestyle content will also include a subtle "anti-abuse" message, focusing on avoiding harmful and unhealthy practices such as smoking, drinking and drugs.

NHL Hockey Rules
NHL Hockey Rules is a round-robin inline competition for boys and girls of varying abilities. Hockey skills clinics, player appearances, potential appearances by alumni, sponsor exhibit areas and the official NHL Hockey Rules retail center will be part of the Hockey Rules experience.
