Blackhawks visit rival Red Wings in Detroit
Chicago Blackhawks vs. Detroit Red Wings

The Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings complete their preseason series Sunday afternoon at Joe Louis Arena. The game can be heard on wgnradio.com and the WGN Radio mobile apps.

Last Meeting: Corey Crawford turned aside all 19 shots he faced as the Blackhawks shut out the Wings in their preseason opener, 2-0, on Sept. 17. Patrick Sharp and Ben Smith tallied in the game, while Brent Seabrook added an assist.

Three Stars (players to watch):

TONIGHT'S GAME: CHI at DET

TIME:
4 p.m. CT
VENUE: Joe Louis Arena
BROADCAST INFO: WGNRadio.com and WGN Radio's mobile apps (No TV/radio broadcast)

Brandon Bollig: The Blackhawks did not hold practice on Saturday, and as of Friday night, Head Coach Joel Quenneville had given little indication of who will travel to Detroit for the preseason matchup. Bollig, who has been better known for his toughness in his NHL career, has talked often during training camp about improving his scoring touch. With two goals so far this preseason, the 26-year-old winger would look to continue his hot start if he were to dress for Sunday's contest.

Ben Smith: Given a night off on Friday against Washington, it's possible that Rockford veteran Smith could return to the lineup Sunday. His last time out, the Boston College alum scored two points (1G, 1A) as the Blackhawks fell to Pittsburgh in a shootout, 4-3.

Corey Crawford / Nikolai Khabibulin: Coach Q hasn't indicated which goaltender will get the nod Sunday, but a road date against the Red Wings will be a good test for either player. Crawford is 11-2-2 with a 1.82 goals-against average in his career against Detroit during the regular season. Khabibulin is 16-28-6 all-time against Detroit, with a 3.28 goals-against average.

Rising Star (must-watch prospect): Dylan Olsen made a strong 2013 preseason debut during the Blackhawks' shootout win in Washington, D.C., on Friday. The 2009 first-round draft pick potted a first-period goal, and later added an assist, on the way to being named the third star of the game.

Know the enemy (opponent report): The Red Wings are 2-2-0 this preseason, including a 2-0 loss to the Boston Bruins Saturday night. Neither Pavel Datsyuk nor captain Henrik Zetterberg were in the lineup for the matchup, and they could face the Hawks on Sunday, as could top defenseman Niklas Kronwall.

Fun Fact: The Blackhawks and Red Wings have played an NHL-high 725 regular-season matchups against one another.
